Beginner 1

  • Safely enter and exit the water
  • Full submersion
  • Front and back float assisted
  • Kicking on front and back
  • Jump to teacher from poolside

Beginner 2

  • Safely enter and exit the water
  • Front and back float
  • Assisted flutter kick on front and back
  • Front torpedo
  • Jump into water and return to poolside unassisted

Level 1

  • Safely enter and exit the water
  • Streamline torpedo on front
  • Swimming arms on front with correct arm action and flutter kick
  • Unassisted back kick
  • Jump into water, pop up breath and return to pool side unassisted.

Level 1/2

  • Safely enter and exit the water
  • Front and back streamline torpedo over 15 metres
  • Freestyle with correct side breathing, arm action and flutter kick over 15 metres
  • Correct backstroke over 15 meters
  • Retrieve sinkable from deep water

Level 2 

  • Safely enter and exit the water
  • Building to correct freestyle over 25 meters
  • Building to correct backstroke over 25 metres
  • Survival backstroke for 15 metres
  • Kneeling dive start

Level 3

  • Safely enter and exit the water
  • 50 metres of sustained freestyle with correct form
  • 50 metres of sustained backstroke with correct form
  • 25 metres of breaststroke with correct timing
  • 15 meters of fluid dolphin kick

Level 4

  • Safely enter and exit the water
  • Swim 100 metres of each with correct form: Freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke
  • Maintain correct butterfly form over 25 metres
  • 150 meters survival swim
  • Perform streamlined racing dive

Pre-squad 

  • Safely enter and exit the water
  • Swim 200 metres of each with correct form: Freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke
  • Complete butterfly over 50 metres
  • Perform split stroke and dolphin kick starts.
  • Introduction to tumble turns
  • 250 metres survival swim.
  • Continuous treading water over a timed period.

Squad

  • Able to continuously maintain a swim over 1 kilometre
  • Accomplished in all competitive strokes
  • Demonstrate starts and turns for all competitive strokes
  • 400 metres survival swim. Continuous treading water over a timed period
  • Congratulations on completing Bluesalt Swim School’s learn to swim program
